Reflection: Thankful Thoughts

With so much hate being shown in the world on a daily basis, it is so important to remind ourselves of the good things in life. The past month has brought along a lot of change and tough decisions for me to make, and at times I lost sight of all the beautiful things in my life.

My family is my rock. Like I mentioned earlier, the past month has led me to make a tough decision, but with the help of my family, I was able to figure it out. They are always there for me when I need them and I couldn’t be happier and more thankful to have them in my life.

My education is something that I always used to take for granted. It wasn’t until this year that I really started to appreciate how special and valuable it is to be able to have the ability to get a college level education. It is something that I will never take for granted ever again.

Growing up as a dancer, music has always been such a big part of my life and it is something that I am always thankful for. Music has such a way of helping you remember special moments in your life and helping put your feelings into words when you have nothing to say.

I’m thankful for friends who are always there for me. Sometimes I am not the best at keeping in touch with people, but I made some incredible friends over the summer who check in to make sure that I’m ok. They mean more to me than they know.

My dog is such a ray of light in my life that I don’t know what I did before her. Even when I’m away at school, I constantly flip through pictures of her on my phone to keep my spirits up.

This time of year always calls for us to think about what we are thankful for, but I challenge you to do that not just during the holiday season, but all year round. I know that life can get crazy, but I promise that taking the time out of your day to relax and reflect on all you have, instead of all you have lost or want, will make a world of a difference.
